About Us - Meet the Board

The SASH board of directors currently has 11 distinguished members. They come from all walks of life and parts of the world and their service to this organization is volunteer.

Sandra Buchanan, Ph.D., CSAT
Sandra is a Canadian who did her graduate studies in New York before moving to the United Kingdom, where she has lived for more than 25 years. She is in private practice and works with people who exhibit compulsive behaviors that result from childhood traumas. With an anthropology background, she has an affinity for multicultural work.

Robin Cato, J.D., (Executive Director of SASH)
Robin is the executive director for The Society for the Advancement of Sexual Health in Atlanta, Georgia. She is also an attorney at law in the state of Georgia. Robin teaches as an adjunct professor at John Marshall Law School in Atlanta.

Prior to her law career, she taught high school English in the Orlando, Florida, area. She earned her B.A. in English from Stetson University in Deland, Florida, and her law degree from Mississippi College School of Law, Jackson, Mississippi.

Rickey D. Dovers, MS, LCDC, SWA, AAC, CCFC
Rickey has his Bachelors Degree in Biblical Studies and began his career as a member of the clergy. After twenty years as a member of the clergy, he returned to the university and completed his Masters Degree in addiction counseling. After completing his Masters Degree, Rickey held the positions of Small Group L eadership Trainer, State Marketing Director, Divisional Marketing Director, and Program Director of adult and adolescent psychiatric services. He has worked with Sante Center for Healing since its inception. He has held the positions of both Case Manger / Team Leader and National Marketing Director. Rickey is a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor, Licensed Social Work Associate, Advanced Addiction Counselor, and Clinically Certified Forensic Counselor.

Marcus R. Earle, Ph.D.
Dr. Marcus Earle is a graduate from Virginia Tech University, where he earned a doctorate degree in Marriage and Family Therapy in 1988. He is the clinical director of Psychological Counseling Services Ltd., a group private practice, specializing in intensive outpatient therapy. Dr. Earle is licensed as a psychologist and certified as a marriage and family therapist in Arizona. He specializes in working with addictions, couples, and families. Dr. Earle co-leads compulsivity and co-dependency groups and conducts couples communication workshops and marital and family enrichment programs with his wife, Robin. He both works with and has co-authored the book, "Sex Addiction: Case Studies and Management," with his father, Ralph H. Earle, Ph.D.

John Giugliano, Ph.D.
John is a psychotherapist in private practice in the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, area. He specializes in the treatment of persons with out-of-control behavior, trauma and relational/intimacy disorders. John is also adjunct faculty in Widener University's MSW program.

Margaret Jarvis, M.D., (Secretary of SASH)
Dr. Jarvis is a board-certified psychiatrist who has also been certified by the American Society of Addiction Medicine. She is the medical director at Marworth Treatment Center, in Waverly, Pennsylvania. Dr. Jarvis did her medical, residency and fellowship training at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond.

Anna Jones, LCPC, LPC, NCC
A licensed therapist with an interest in trauma and addiction, Anna joined the board in 2001. Currently she is completing a U.S. government contract as an adolescent addictions therapist in Seoul, South Korea.

David McCall, Ph.D., (Treasurer of SASH)
David is a therapist in Washington, D.C. After an early career as a Lutheran parish minister, he completed a doctorate in counseling at Catholic University. His dissertation research was on adult men who had been sexually abused as children. Working with that population led him to further his training in sexual addiction/compulsivity, his membership in SASH and his current term on the board.

Jeffrey T. Parsons, Ph.D.
Jeff is a research psychologist and a professor of psychology at Hunter College of the City University of New York (CUNY). In addition, he is the co-director of the Center for HIV/AIDS Educational Studies and Training (CHEST), a behavioral research center dedicated to improving the lives of those affected by HIV in Manhattan. His research has focused on the sexual health of gay men. Jeff is also the co-principal investigator of a CDC-funded study designed to develop objective and reliable diagnostic criteria of sexual compulsivity. He conducts professional training in the use of motivational interviewing for the treatment of addictive behaviors and HIV-risk reduction. Jeff is a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers.

Bill Swiggart, M.S., LPC
William Swiggart is a licensed professional counselor and has been involved in the practice of psychotherapy for 25 years. He is the Training Director of The Center for Professional Health at Vanderbilt University and maintains a private practice in Nashville, Tennessee. Bill received his bachelor's degree in special education and a master's degree in educational psychology from the University of Tennessee.
